TARGET AUDIENCE: Learners with competence in numeracy at ABET 3. Individuals that have to do work or intend to work within a chemical industry in general and as applied in a specific environment.

Relevance: Those learners who acquire the outcomes of this standard will know about and be able to maintain basic safety, health and environmental requirements, pertaining to the specific site where learning takes place and the chemical industry in general. They will be able to maintain basic safety, health and environmental issues as an Employee in a chemical work environment. Candidates will be educated on how to identify and recognise workplace hazards and proper procedure in dealing with such hazards. Candidates will also be able to implement relevant measures as prescribed in the OHS Act as statutory requirements.
