The Contractor Passport™ is a web based system that monitors, records and stores an individual’s employee record for life and links this record to a personalised ‘passport’ card. This record relates to Safety training history, Medical fitness certificates and Competency per position.
The Contractor Passport™ also offers reciprocity with huge benefits in accordance to KBC Health and Safety training.
Reciprocity is defined as: a mutual exchange of privileges; specifically : a recognition by one of two countries or institutions of the validity of licenses or privileges granted by the other.
It means that KBC is creating a system of reciprocity for its safety induction trainings, where mines in the region accept KBC’s induction training as sufficient for induction purposes and recognise not to retrain contractors who have a valid, relevant KBC safety training certificate.
How does the Contractor Passport™ work?
Each employee that does induction training with KBC, in a reciprocity applicable area will bring in all their relevant OHS and MHS documentation and qualifications to the training centre, on the day of training. This information will be scanned in and linked with the students profile through a personalised ‘Passport’ card. When this employee’s information needs to be recalled at a safety check point, it is can be in one of three ways:
- Safety personal can log onto the Contractor Passport website (www.contractorpassport.co.za), via cell phone or computer, and login with his client login information. This will allow the safety officer to check that student by ID number. All compliance information pertaining to that student, including a photo gets brought up with a quick summary of the students training competency.
- Safety personal can view a quick summary of an employee’s safety compliance by SMS’ing the employee’s ID number to 079 975 5499. A report on the ID number requested will be sent back to the cell phone. This information will be a summary of certain training, competence and medical fitness information.
- Safety personal can scan the barcode on the front of any Contractor Passport card with a smartphone camera and get a quick summary of the employee. This is a useful method when there is no internet access in the area and a quick overview of the employee is needed. The Contractor Passport™ system also allows .pdf copies to be printed out for Medical Certificates and qualifications pertaining to the employee- with just the click of a mouse.
